Un-needed Stress Count
I put so much un-needed stress on myself by trying to read every RSS article in Reeder and listen to every podcast in iTunes.
Let’s check in on what today’s un-needed stress count is…
Ok, so 481….
plus 294….. (let’s not count those iTunes U episodes)
= 775… yikes!
If I could get myself to just press “Mark As Read” and...

Panning for Gold
morrisonfilm:
I got to thinking recently. Why pay $10 or whatever a month for Spotify or Rdio when I’ve got 30GB of music on my hard drive that I never listen to? The problem is I open up iTunes, scan through the list of artists and think “I hate all this crap.” But here’s the trick: I don’t hate it all. I just forgot about all the good stuff.
So I started an insane project. I am rating every...

Tweetbot vs. Twitter's Official App →
Dan Frommer:
Thanks to a price cut to $0.99 and the new Twitter launch on Thursday, Tweetbot has been shooting up the iPhone App Store charts, according to App Annie.
I installed Tweetbot as soon as it was released, but then eventually went back to using the official Twitter app. The switch was mainly because Tweetbot made it so simple to view to lists, that I actually was paying less...

Peyton Manning Could Be A Jet →
Brian Costello:
Right now it’s a dull whisper, but it’s sure to become a full-fledged scream should the Jets’ season end with anything short of a trip to Super Bowl XLVI — fans and NFL analysts calling on the Jets to pursue Peyton Manning.
Forget it.
All I think of when I hear this is Brett Favre.
We’re seeing proof of what Peyton Manning can do for a team by sitting on the...

morrisonfilm:
Works perfectly.
I’m glad that this works well for most people. But for me, I had at least one album that was upgraded to the censored version. I’m hoping that this will be addressed and resolved in the future.

iPhone Naming Sequence
The first iPhone was called iPhone. The next one was iPhone 3G, which meant never calling anything iPhone 2. The iPhone 3G was then followed, not by iPhone 4 or 4G, but by iPhone 3GS.
When Apple decided to release the next iPhone after the 3GS, the logical name was iPhone 4. Not only did it sound good as a follow up to the 3GS, but it was also the 4th model of iPhone.
Now Apple is releasing an...

Blink 182's New Album, Neighborhoods
I bought the new Blink-182 album yesterday, and have listened to it seven times already. Each listen sounds better than the last.
It’s exactly where you would expect a new album to be in the evolution that has been Blink-182. Neighborhoods is a collaboration we have not heard from them yet. A mix of old Blink, Angels and Airwaves, Boxcar Racer, and even +44. Not to mention Travis’s...

I’ve been going back and forth, trying to decide if I like Foursquare or Gowalla better…
I know more people on Foursquare
Gowalla looks prettier
Foursquare is more fun, and feels like a game
It’s basically a coin toss, but I currently have Foursquare on my home screen.
However, now with Goodfoot here, I feel like I should be using Gowalla again to add to the...

No Cheese At All
Me: I didn't eat any cheese today. No cheese at all.
Kerrie: What about on your breakfast sandwich?
Me: Oh ya, there was a slice of cheese on that.
Kerrie: And for lunch?
Me: I had a turkey sandwich with cheese on it.
Kerrie: And, what toppings did you just eat on that pizza six minutes ago?
Me: Oh ya, there was cheese on that too.
Kerrie: So, exactly what cheese were you referring to that you didn't eat today?
Me: I ate some cereal earlier... that didn't have any cheese on it.

Improving Alarms In The iPhone Clock App →
One thing that really irks me is that the volume of an alarm you set will adhere to your “Ringer and Alerts” volume setting.
What if I want my phone to ring loudly when someone calls, but don’t want my morning alarm to wakeup the neighbors?
I use the Clock app as my alarm every morning, and always need to check the phone volume before I go to sleep.
My iPhone is my only phone, so I...

Jets Sanchez Jersey
I was browsing nflshop.com, looking at this Sanchez jersey:
I noticed that they have a buying guide down at the bottom of the page. It’s very useful. Let’s take a look at it, one part at a time.
Here are the pros of buying this jersey:
Good stuff, lots of information in there.
Now, the best uses:
Oh, watching the game on TV. Wow, very useful… and, no way,...

RSS Usage →
RSS is a great tool that’s very easy to misuse. And if you’re subscribing to any feeds that post more than about 10 items per day, you’re probably misusing it. I don’t mean that you’re using it in a way it wasn’t intended — rather, you’re using it in a way that’s not good for you.
I’m always feeling like I need to revamp my RSS scheme. I’m currently looking at 2606 unread items...

iPad's Are Replacing NFL Paper Playbooks →
This is a nice move in a great direction.
Not only does this allow a player to have the entire playbook with them at a lesser weight and greater convenience, but this also gives them instant access to game film and even secures the documents more than paper could have.

A Broken iPod Nano Update
I wanted to give a quick update on the status of my most recent iPod Nano I’ve been using since my broken ones.
I really thought that the bouncing from jogging was the damaging factor that kept breaking these things on me… But, it turns out that the big fix, was to stop clipping it in a spot that would allow it to be drenched in sweat.
Lately, I’ve been clipping it to the...

Default Email Reader Preference
I love using Reeder to access my RSS feeds. One of the many great things about the app, is all of the built in services that are so easily accessible. However, every time I use the Reeder service to email a link to an article, it launches Mail.app, even though I use Sparrow for mail on my Mac.
I couldn’t find the setting anywhere in Reeder preferences that would let me change the default...

iTunes Match Is Storing Files Locally →
Despite evidence that appears to show streaming playback through iTunes Match, an Apple spokesperson confirmed to Peter Kafka of All Things D that content played from the service must first be “stored” on an iPhone or iPad. The service appears to be streaming because it begins playback instantly, but instead of true streaming it is downloading and storing the file while beginning...

No More TV Rentals Through iTunes →
Apple decided to stop offering TV show rentals, right when I was about to make my Apple TV purchase. Looking at the Apple TV page of the store, there is no longer a mention of rentals at all.

OS X Lion Is Not Joking Around With This Resume...
(Quick brief on my current setup: MacBook Pro plugged into a Cinema Display)
The other day, my system was beach balling to the point that I literally had to open the laptop and manually shut down the computer with the hardware button. I never had to do this before, until installing Lion, so I was a little worried about what the outcome was going to be. But, to my surprise, when the computer...

The Best Camera I Own

I slid to unlock, launched the Camera app, and stared at this while he continued to do the cute thing, and then proceeded to finish...

Running Breaks My Nano
After another trip to the Apple Store, I was on my third refurbished iPod Nano, to replace the 2nd one broke. After just two jogs with the new one, the thing is already busted. People must think I’m crazy, or that I’m not really going for a run when I leave the house, but instead just going two blocks down the road, taking a turn and then raping these things in the woods.
I kept thinking that my...
